Chef Jet Tila is a nationally renowned chef of Asian cuisine. He is known across the country for his skill, enthusiasm, expertise, and knowledge of Asian regional food, with main emphasis on Thailand, China, Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, Korea and India.

Jet's passion for Asian food began at an early age. He spent time with his Chinese-Thai grandmother, learning many of the ancient traditions of classical Asian cuisine from her. By his early teens Jet was cooking at his family’s Royal Thai restaurants. He was also working at the family's Bangkok Market, the nation's first Thai grocery and import company.

Then at age 22, Jet was teaching cooking classes in his backyard, which caught the attention of the Los Angeles Times. It was at this time that Jet decided to formalize his culinary expertise, graduating from the California School of Culinary Art, in 2000. Jet’s Le Cordon Bleu education coupled with his extensive knowledge of Asian gastronomy have given him a wide range of ideas to draw upon and a broad framework to create incomparable and innovative cuisine. In culinary school, Jet began to develop his style by seeking novel and inventive ways to approach eastern ingredients with classical French techniques. Jet has also completed an intensive study program at the California Sushi Academy.

Jet's resume is extensive! After culinary school, he worked at the Los Angeles Times food section and would regularly write feature pieces. He can be heard regularly on KCRW's (NPR) "Good Food" program with Evan Kleiman and will be hosting his own Television show starting in late 2008 called "Chasing the Yum" on the Veria Network. In addition he has made numerous television appearances, including:

• Food TV's "The Best Of", "Food Finds", & "The Secret Life Of...";
• The Travel Channel's "No Reservations" with Chef Anthony Bourdain ;
• The Learning Channel's (TLC) "Take Home chef" with Curtis Stone;
• FINE LIVING's "Shopping with Chefs" and "Weekend Entertaining" ;
• HGTV's "Smart Solutions" ;
• DIY's "Weekend Entertaining" ;
• PBS's "Visiting With Huell Howser;"

In 1999, Jet was awarded Los Angeles Times "Best Recipe of the Year" for his Tom Yum Soup and his Tom Kha Gai soup was named one of the Ten Best recipes of 2000. Jet's team also broke the Guinness World Record for the world's largest stirfry at 1805 pounds in 2005.

Throughout his career, Jet has worked in various restaurant settings, from fine dining at Grace, to the hip and trendy Hungry Cat. He has also been a feature chef for the Hass Avocado Board, The Cattlemen's Beef Promotion & Research Board, and Zespri (New Zealand) Kiwi Fruit.
